[Dream Lesson] with Gediminas Grinius Report from Maekawa Elementary School in Nagaoka City, Niigata Prefecture

On Monday, June 09, 2025, as part of Trail Runners' SDGs project, the "National Mountain Region Future Building Project," we held a "Dream Lesson" at MaekawaIshizaka Elementary School in Nagaoka City, Niigata Prefecture, as a contribution to the local community around the venue of DEEP JAPAN ULTRA 100." The lesson taught students how to turn their passion into a job while remaining in their hometown.

This "Dream Lesson" was implemented as a model project for promoting entrepreneurship education in Niigata Prefecture. Ultra-trail world champion Gediminas Grinius, who was in Japan to participate in the competition, served as the lecturer, and overall producer Matsunaga Hiroaki served as both lecturer and interpreter.

The "Dream Lesson" was held in two 45-minute periods. In the first period, we ran with the students, sharing the joy and exhilaration of moving the body through the theme of "Let's run comfortably and challenge ourselves to be superhuman!" In the second period, we had a mini lecture on the theme of "What I want to tell children: Find what you like." We explained why it is important to find what you like.

After the dream lesson, we had lunch together and enjoyed interacting with the children.
