On Saturday and Sunday, June 7th and 8th, 2025, we welcomed 17 people and held "2026 Tournament Entry Qualification Granted!! DEEP JAPAN ULTRA 100 Official Trial Camp with Gediminas Grinius" on the DEEP JAPAN ULTRA 100 course. We would like to express our sincere gratitude to everyone who participated, to Asakusa Sanso and Yotege House, and to all those involved.
The stage was the actual course of the DEEP JAPAN ULTRA 100 produced by Hiroaki Matsunaga. In order to simulate the experience of a global standard course designed to allow people to experience the harshness and excitement of overseas races while staying in Japan, three elevation changes of over 1000m were prepared over the two days of the test run camp. In 2024, there was only a little snow remaining on the summit of Mt. Asakusa. This year, the situation is completely different. The scenery spread out, making us feel our smallness and in awe of the size of nature.
In areas with heavy snowfall and very few climbers, it was difficult to test run alone, and together with Hiroaki Matsunaga, who actually set the course, we chose a course flexibly according to the situation, and while running together, we explained the course and gave tips on completing the course. Gediminas Grinius, the world champion of ultra-trail, also spoke about what is important in ultra-trail and training methods.

I think everyone was able to feel the overwhelming size of nature and the profound worldview of DEEP JAPAN.

After the event, everyone's eyes looked full of fulfillment.
When I ran around these mountains aiming to make the competition a reality. I was desperate without imagining this rehearsal camp. The situation has changed so much that it seems like it was just a dream. That's why life is interesting.
As part of the National Mountain Region Future Creation Project, we will contribute even more to the hosting areas through these trial camps throughout the year. Trail Runners, which plans, produces, and manages the event, will continue to provide opportunities to immerse yourself in nature and free yourself, helping you move towards a life that is more true to yourself, which has been lying dormant deep within your heart until now.
