If a pacer retires (abandons), the pacer must retire in the same way as the athlete. If the pacer retires, the athlete may continue.
If a pacer retires, the pacer alone is not allowed to run.
Pacers will only run alongside for the athletes and will not be allowed to carry the athletes' rations, required equipment, etc.
Failure to carry the required equipment will result in disqualification of the athlete and penalty time will be added to the athlete's time.
