On June 13th and 14th, 2026 (Saturday and Sunday), we welcomed 8 people and held "2027 Tournament Entry Qualification Granted!! DEEP JAPAN ULTRA 100 Official Trial Camp with Gediminas Grinius" on the DEEP JAPAN ULTRA 100 course. We would like to express our sincere gratitude to everyone who participated, the staff of Yottege House, and all those involved.
The setting was the actual course of the DEEP JAPAN ULTRA 100, produced by Hiroaki Matsunaga. Designed to allow participants to experience the harshness and excitement of an overseas race without leaving Japan, the course was designed to simulate a global standard, with three sections featuring elevation differences of over 1000m over two days of the trial run camp. Embraced by the dazzling green mountains, it was a wonderful time to immerse oneself in nature and confront oneself.
Because the course includes areas with very few hikers, it's difficult to test run certain sections alone. Participants experienced the course at their own race pace, together with Hiroaki Matsunaga, who actually designed the course. They also had the opportunity to spend time in the same space as ultra-trail world champion Gediminas Grinius, and I believe they learned a great deal from watching him.

Everyone's faces after the event seemed to be filled with a sense of fulfillment and accomplishment.
This project began when, after traveling the world, I became convinced that the mountains in my hometown were a stage worthy of such a feat. In particular, during the lingering snow season, they display a grandeur comparable to the Alps. People who might never have visited this place otherwise will come here through this competition, and in doing so, they will have the opportunity to reflect more deeply on themselves and explore their own way of life. We will continue to provide such opportunities.
As part of the Nationwide Mountain Region Future Development Project, Trail Runners will contribute even more by creating opportunities to visit host locations through events such as trial run camps held throughout the year.
